I AM JUST SO IN LOVE WITH THIS PLUSH YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spirited Away is, and probably always will be, my favorite animated film of all time.  Studio Ghibili has always been an inspiration to me and their movies were what got me into anime in the first place.  Chihiro has always been one of my favorite characters of theirs because of her strength and character development throughout the movie, and when I needed a character to make to test my new pattern I knew she would be the one.

Everything about this pattern is revamped from my old one.  I still used BabyLondonStar's pattern as a base but I changed the scaling of the pattern quite a bit.  Now the body is a lot larger and feels more substantial.  I also decreased the head size a bit to make it not seem as chibi as my other plushies did.  I also messed around with the feet as well.

This was my first time embroidering a face for a human plush and I adore the results!  I tried to remain as movie-accurate as possible with her features and I think her face looks so sweet =w= I also did some thread sculpting on the hands so now my plushies acutally have fingers!  It looks so much better and I can't believe I didn't do it before!

The clothes were a real challenge because Chihiro has so many layers but I leaned a lot along the way.  Her pants are gathered at the bottoms using a handsewn running stitch and underneath her pink top is a white undershirt.  Even though you can't see it much I wanted to have it so you can get a peek of it on her sides and in the notches on her shoulders.  In addition, I also looked up a bunch of videos on how to tie at Tasuki cord so it would turn out right :P

The last big change I made with my pattern is the way in which I make hair.  Instead of using a single layer of fleece or sewing it together I took some tips from :iconvioletlunchell: and hot glued two layers of fleece together!  It turned out SO much better than my past attempts at hair.  It looks a lot cleaner and hangs nicely as well.  Also, in case anyone was wondering, that is an actual ponytail holder I used to put around her ponytail.  I had one laying around and I though. "Why not make it as accurate as possible?"

Besides Toothless this is my favorite plush I have made for sure!  I am just so proud of how far I have come and hope to improve even more!

Chihiro has been spirited away toTUMBLR!  Like/reblog her there!
